Volumes are network-attached block storage. You can use them with Droplets or Kubernetes clusters, move or resize them, and create snapshots at any time.
DigitalOcean Volumes Block Storage cost $0.10 per GiB per month and range from 1 GiB to 16384 GiB (16 TiB). Charges accrue hourly for as long as the volume exists.
You are charged for volumes whether or not they are attached to a Droplet.
